It means room temperature. Not hot anymore, not warm... room temp.
It does not say refrigerate. It does not say put in the freezer.
One of the clues is that you have to be able to whip it, and you won't be able to do that if you refrigerate or freeze it ';until ice has frozen on the top';, as stated by another. When cooking candy and recipe says ';cool'; then whip, how cool are they talking about?
If the candy is hot or warm and the recipe says ';let cool,'; then it probably means let it sit until it is room temperature.
If is already room temperature and the recipe says to cool the candy, then i would let it set in the refrigerator for a couple min. When cooking candy and recipe says ';cool'; then whip, how cool are they talking about?
Well, thats a tricky question to answer. I think it depends on what kind of recipe it is and the quantity of what you are making. It's obviously not supposed to be cold cause it it was, it'll say chill or freeze, I think it means room temparature, it shouldn't be that warm but a little bit on the cold side.
Unless the recipe specifies, such as ';cool in the refrigerator';, it probably means ';cool enough to safely handle';. Allowing the mixture to cool (covered) at room temperature should be fine.
After my many years of cooking at home and watching the food channel, the meaning for ';cool'; is to put in the freezer until ice has frozen over the top.
cool whip is a food. its like whipped cream, but thicker and creamier. you will probably find it in the frozen isle at the food store.
I'd say you needed to cool it to room temperature.
If they said to refrigerate, then cool it until the substance is completely cool (not going to get any cooler).
TX Mom
I have a couple of candy recipes that say cool to 110% using a CANDY thermometer. Then beat.
probably room temperature, otherwise it would say chill or something
When they're no warmer than the room. (If you touch it, you shouldn't feel anything.)
When its not warm anymore.
can you provide the recipe?
a lot depends on what you are making.
