What is your favorite recipe to cook for family and friends at the holidays?

I love to make all sorts of things, but would like to try something new this year...please nothing too hard, I'm due to have a baby the week before Christmas. Your own recipe please, no internet stuff, unless its where you got the recipe of coarse. What is your favorite recipe to cook for family and friends at the holidays?
I do a mock brittle . I take a cookie sheet and line saltine crackers in a row . In a pot I melt butter, sugar and vanilla . when melted I pour over the saltine crackers and chill . they come out really great . everyone loves it .What is your favorite recipe to cook for family and friends at the holidays?
I love to make this recipe at Christmas with ham or a roast. It would go with turkey but my family demands mashed potatoes and gravy at Thanksgiving!

Leftovers are heavenly and you can spread any remaining Boursin cheese on toast or crackers to use as appetizers.

And you can use store-bought Boursin if you want.

Boursin Potato Gratin

2 cups heavy cream

2/3 cup Boursin Cheese (see recipe)

2 T, minced shallots

1 clove garlic, minced

2 陆 lbs new red potatoes, scrubbed and sliced 录 inch thick

salt and freshly cracked pepper

2 or more T snipped chives

2 or more T snipped parsley

Generously butter a 13X9X2 inch baking dish

In a heavy 1 陆 qt saucepan, heat cream, Boursin Cheese, shallots and garlic over medium heat until cheese melts.

Pre heat oven to 400 degrees. Arrange half of the potatoes in the baking dish in slightly overlapping rows. Generously season with salt and pepper.

Pour half of the cheese mixture over the potatoes. Sprinkle with the chives.

Repeat layering with the remaining potato slices, more salt and pepper and cheese mixture.

Bake uncovered one hour until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown. Sprinkle with parsley. Serves 8 to 10

Boursin Cheese

3 cloves garlic, minced

陆 t salt

8 oz cream cheese (room temp)

录 cup butter (room temp)

2 T finely snipped parsley

2 T coarsely ground black pepper

Beat all ingredients together very well.

Cover and store up to two weeks in the fridge.
My family loves my homemade stuffing.... NOT stove top.

1 loaf stale bread cubed

3 eggs

1 teaspoon sage

salt, pepper

2 stalks celery diced

1 onion diced

1 1/2 cup chicken broth

1 small pan cornbread (cubed)

beat the eggs and add to chicken broth.

mix celery and onion in as well as spices

mix cornbread and white bread together (stale french bread works well also)

mix all together, put in 9x13 pan that has been sprayed with pam, If it looks too dry, add a little more chicken broth over the top of it then bake.

let set for about 30 min, bake 350 for about 45 minutes.
My family and friends go nuts when I make prime rib for the holidays. And it's possibly the easiest thing ever to make. I use Alton Brown's recipe for the meat (but not the gravy...it wasn't that big a hit in my household) and it turns out fabulously well every single time, plus it looks incredibly impressive. Here's the url for the recipe:

Every year it's fruit salad for my kiddos...

1 Can of Fruit Cocktail, well drained

a whole jar of red cherries, well drained (can save a little of juice)

1 tub of cool whip

1 bag of chopped walnuts

1/2 bag to 1 bag mini marshmallows

1 diced up red apple, seed's removed of course

1 can mandarin oranges

1-2 bananas, sliced in circles

Place in a large bowl and mix well, can add saved cherry juice to cool whip if you'd like more of a red color.

I know it's not very ';holiday-ish'; but I love to make crab ragoons every holiday. They are soooo good. Ya just take a package of cream cheese, 1 green onion *optional*, a dash of worchestershire sauce, and imitation crab meat. (the great thing about this is you dont really have to measure anything) fork it all together, get those won ton wrappers from the produce section. fry...yum! I can never make enough, they always go first, and leaves everyone asking for more. (there is directions on the wrappers on how to assemble, you just put a small amount in the middle of the wrapper, wet the sides so they will wont pop open when you fry them.) We have done these with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, apple or cherry pie filling. It's very versitile. You could add chicken with sweet and sour sauce, man the possibilities are endless. Also, you could make homemade ravioli with those wrappers too, you just boil them (use different filling of course) instead of frying! Good luck on your holiday meal.
I have a recipe for stuffing that is a favorite of my family. Sometimes I can't believe how the gobble that up. It is a three onion stuffing with mushrooms, sage %26amp; thyme. It is on my website, so I am going to direct you there.

I think pork is a very versatile meat that does well served at room temperature or warm. Here is a recipe of mine I think you will find quite easy and delicious:
