Simple Sponge Cake

445 g butter / 2 cups butter

400 g white sugar / 2 cups sugar

8 eggs

500 g self-rising flour / 4 cups

Preheat an oven to 165 degrees C / 325 degrees F. Grease a 35 cm / 14 inch cake pan and line with a circle of parchment paper.

Beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until light and fluffy. The mixture should be noticeably lighter in color. Add the eggs one at a time, allowing each egg to blend into the butter mixture before adding the next. Fold in the flour until only small lumps remain; pour into the prepared pan.

Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 55 to 60 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack. Can anyone give me a recipe and cooking times for a 14'; sponge please?
